18/12/2014 - CAMP Montenegro: a successful end
Italy has recently formally launched its CAMP Italy Project CAMP (Inception Conference, Alghero - November 12, 2014) while another nation, part of the Barcelona Convention, successfully completed this Mediterranean experience: Montenegro.
Last 18 December, the final Conference of the Project CAMP Montenegro was held on the premises of the Hotel Maestral in the Adriatic city of Budva. The Conference was an important moment of exchange and sharing through the presentation of the results and of the major challenges faced since the beginning of the Project, in June 2011, on the implementation of the ICZM Protocol in the Region. The National Coordinator of CAMP Italy Project participated in the final Conference presenting the main objectives and purposes as evidence of the Network of CAMP Projects.
The Project CAMP Montenegro was articulated through multiple activities insisting on the coastal area and, more specifically, in six coastal municipalities extended over an area of approximately 2,500 km2, including inland waters.
The Conference followed the final meeting of the Steering Committee held in Podgorica on 19 November 2014, during which it was presented a proposal for an ICZM Strategy, as a model for the implementation of further documents and the development of future systems of integrated coastal zone management.
With Montenegro, the system of CAMP Projects signed another success to be included in the Mediterranean Network for capacity building and the exchange of best practices.
