The Blue Plan (BP/RAC) is the Center for the environmental development in the Mediterranean basin, focusing on sustainable development practices and cooperation. Blue Plan operates both as an instrument of environmental observation with a scope on sustainable development, both as a center for environemntal systemic forecasting. Moreover, it aims to provide the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention with evaluations on the state of the environment and on the development of the Mediterranean, through solid data on environmental and sustainable development, statistics and indicators, in order to support Countries in their action and decision processes.
The BP/RAC supports activities of defense of the coastal areas within the ClimVar Project (UNEP GRID) and SIMEDD (Mediterranean Information System on Environment and Development).
Within CAMP Italy project, the Center helps to support activities related to Objective 3, verification of the sustainability of socio-economic activities that insist on the coastal area, through the application of sustainability on socio-economic activities related to ecosystem services (PES, TEEB, etc ..), especially tourism, fisheries and coastal defense.
